Announcement: Social Distancing Procedures for Board Meetings

SOCIAL DISTANCING ACCOMMODATIONS FOR
SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS
March 21, 2020

Moving forward, the Board of Education of Zion-Benton Twp. High School District 126 will be practicing social distancing when it meets to conduct essential District business.  Illinois has provided relief from the Open Meetings Act requirement that a quorum of School Board members be physically present in order for the School Board to hold a meeting and conduct business.  Thus when the School Board meets, School Board members will exercise their option to participate by teleconference should they choose to do so.

Members of the public who wish to provide public comment but are uncomfortable attending a School Board meeting in order to do so may email their public comments to Dr. Chris Clark, Superintendent of Schools, at clarkc@zbths.org.   Those comments will be presented to the School Board when they convene.

Members of the public who choose to attend School Board meetings will be expected to comply with strict social distancing precautions.  Seating will be spread far apart and all handouts will be placed on each chair. The public comment portion of the Board meeting will be conducted by opening the meeting for public comment and allowing members of the public to speak from their seat rather than from a shared podium.

Questions regarding District 126 School Board meetings can be directed to Superintendent Clark at clarkc@zbths.org or 847/731-9792.
