Clubs & Activities
Rotary Interact is a service organization created for youth and is sponsored by local Rotary clubs. New Tech’s chapter of Interact issponsored by the Illinois Beach Sunrise Rotary Club and is open to all NT@ZB students. Each year, Interact selects a minimum of onelocal and one international service project to develop and deploy. These projects allow us to give back to the global and local communitywhile building leadership skills and personal integrity. Keeping with the core values of NT@ZB, Interact members also learn the value ofresponsibility and hard work.

National Honor Society
National Honor Society is an activity that is dedicated to scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The group is made up of students who strive for high achievement, not only in academics, but also in community service and leadership. Their main objective is to serve and lead the school and community by planning and executing unique service projects and special events. Each spring, students with high GPAs and a proven desire to serve the school and community are invited to join NHS at their annual induction ceremony.

Student Leadership Network
Student Leadership Network (SLN) is a body of students from each advisory that meet to help guide the direction of the school through a student perspective. Each advisory elects members to represent them on SLN.

The Brotherhood of Extraordinary Young Men
The overall mission of The Brotherhood is to improve male student success. While they have a diverse group across all grade levels, one of the primary objectives of The Brotherhood is to increase the number of minority students attending college. Students are encouraged to support one another, using the motto “I am my brother’s keeper, and together we will rise.”
Each year, Brotherhood members participate in District 126’s Rising Stars program, and work to make trips to national leadership conferences.

Sister 2 Sister
Sister 2 Sister is an organization that teaches young women about the importance of sisterhood, with members helping each other achieve academic, social, and personal goals. Members make college visits, field trips, and senior trips to foster this greater sense of sisterhood.
Sister 2 Sister meets Tuesdays after school from 2:30-3:30 PM.
Tech Crew is a program that is open to students of both ZBTHS and NT@ZB. Through this program, students will be allowed to learn and have hands on training on the installation, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the District 126 technology infrastructure.
Through this program, students are allowed to learn and have hands-on training on the installation, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of over 3,000 users, 20 industrial Microsoft and Linux servers, 80 networked applications, 900 networked desktop workstations, 200 networked laptops, and 90 networked printers. TechCrew runs like a corporate IT department where students are ranked according to proficiency levels 1, 2, and 3.

Anime Club is a lunchtime activity where members meet, watch, and discuss various aspects of Japanese animation shows and films, otherwise known as anime. Students of all ages are eligible to attend and it’s a great way to meet students outside your cohort or grade level.
Anime club meets every Monday, Tuesday and Friday during lunch.
Book Club is the place where students who like to read and discuss books while snacking after school are welcome. Held once a week, Book Club has tackled classical literature as well as modern fiction and nonfiction. If you enjoy losing yourself in the written word, Book Club may be for you.

Chess Club is the chance to meet and challenge other students of all levels in one of the classic competitions of all time. Students of all levels are encouraged to come, from those new to the game to seasoned players.
Chess club meets Thursdays during lunch.
Lunch Bunch is an outlet for students to participate in student-led sports. Any student can join, any grade, boys and girls, all are welcome. Students get an opportunity to play sports during lunch, meet new people, and get more active during their day, in addition to having an opportunity to complete their Freshman Fitness logs.
Lunch Bunch meets daily for 30 minutes during lunch.
Rock & Roll Club
Rock & Roll Club is where students and staff alike can meet and listen to, discuss, and even play some rock music. Those with musical talent are always encouraged to attend, although the club has its non-musical “groupies” as well.

The Speech/Forensics Team gives students the opportunity to enhance their oratory skills through a variety of events. Students have the choice of practicing and performing in both dramatic and non-dramatic speaking events. They compete in several IHSA tournaments each season, which culminate in February at the State tournament in Springfield.
