In this tech tip, I will show you how to batch process images. Batch processing is used to change multiple pictures to the same settings. First you will need to find the pictures you will batch process. Then you will need to open Fireworks and got to file, batch process. As shown in the picture below.
It should show you a page that will ask what pictures you would like to batch process. Go to where the pictures you would like to batch process are located on your computer and add those pictures like shown below.
Here is a list of thing you can do with your pictures:
Exporting makes your selected pictures a certain file type. Gif files are for pictures with fewer colors. Jpeg files are for pictures taken by a digital camera or realistic with more colors. Bitmaps are jpeg files just bigger files that are not editable and have a good picture quality. When you make a fireworks image it is saved as a Png by default. Pngs are the most editable format for pictures in fireworks. To work with the exporting tool you must first double click on export and then go to the drop down menu and select the desired format for your picture.
Find
and replacing will find any edits you have made to your picture you have
selected and it will change it to the settings you select. Finding and
replacing can be selected by double clicking find and replace and then
clicking the edit… box.
Renaming
gives you the ability to add a prefix or suffix to the name of the picture.
You can change these setting by double clicking on Rename and clicking
on the drop down menu and selecting how you want to change the name of
the picture and the put what you want the prefix or suffix in the space
provided.
Convert
to gray scale makes make the picture only into black and white. To select
this conversion you must click the plus sign (+) next to commands and
then double click on convert to gray scale.
Convert to sepia tone is another variation of the gray scale. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click convert to Sepia Tone instead. Distribute to layer put all the edits into its own layer that you can lock and unlock. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click Distribute to Layers instead. Hide other layers hides all layer but the web layer. You can make that layer come back by clicking on the eye. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click Hide Other Layers instead.
Lock
other layers locks all the layers so you cannot edit them unless you unlock
them to unlock them you must click on the pad lock in the layers panel.
To select it you will do the same as convert to gray
scale but double click Lock Other Layers instead.
1024x768 makes the picture that size because it is usually a dimension that wallpaper would be sized. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click 1024 x 768 instead. 1280x1024 makes the picture that size because it is usually a dimension that wallpaper would be sized. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click 1280 x 1024 instead. 800x600 makes the picture that size because it is usually a dimension that wallpaper would be sized. To select it you will do the same as convert to gray scale but double click 800 x 600 instead. Save panel Layout saves all your setting on that picture so when you batch process that picture can hold as somewhat of a template so you don't have to make all those adjustments again. Reset warning dialogs resets all your options that you said never show again on the selected pictures so that they will show again.
