· Basically this is making an object follow a path that you drew out with a pen or pencil tool. · We will start by making the path that we want our object to follow. So first you must go to your layers area in your “Timeline” panel.
· Click on the second icon in the bottom left hand corner of your layers area.
· This will make a new layer pop up above “layer 1” that says “Guide: Layer 1.”
· Now, make sure that layer is selected (or black) and that whatever frame you want the movie to start at is also selected, I will start from frame 1. Then whatever you draw will be put on that layer in that frame.
· We will create a path, a simple line with some curves using the pen tool, pencil tool, or line tool.
· Once you have your path the way you want it you can start creating your graphic, whether it is a car, a ball, or an animal etc. (I will use a circle). Be sure to put your object on the layer underneath the path you want it to follow in your layers area. · When you are finished drawing your picture you must make it into a graphic by selecting all of it (by double clicking it), and hitting the F8 key, or going to insert>Convert to symbol. Then this will pop up. (Make Sure that “Graphic” is selected as the behavior). You can name it if you want. Click OK
· Now your object should have a blue square around it with a circle at the center. Click and drag the center of your object and place it on the path, it should automatically jump on it as long as you are pretty close to it.
· Now it is time to add the amount of frames you want in your movie, this will help determine the length of your movie, remember as a default your movie will play at 12 frames per second so if you only make your movie 12 frames long it will take 1 second to get from one point on your path to the other. In order to add more frames go to the number you want on the correct layer, in this case your path and graphic should contain the same amount of frames. So go to the number that you want in both layers, and hit F6, or right click and click insert keyframe.
· Now on the layer that your object is in (“Layer 1”) click the last frame that you made, mine is frame 24. Click and drag your graphic and once again place the center on your path except place it where you want your graphic to end up at the end of the movie.
· Now all you have to do is right click in between your “Layer 1” and just right click and select “Create Motion Tween.”
· If you don’t want to see the path that the object moves along go into your layers area and on the guide layer select the point underneath the eye, when you do a red X will cover it and you will no longer be able to see it on your work area, just click it again to make it reappear.
· Now just sit back and push enter to watch your animation in your work area, or hit Ctrl + Enter to export it to a new area with a white background.
