Drop Down Menu Logo

Printer Friendly Version of theis page

In this tech tip, I will show you how to insert a drop down menu. I will also show you how to add and edit the clickable items in the drop down menu. First, you need to know how to insert a drop down menu. To insert a drop down menu you need to open Dreamweaver and click on the forms tab and then click on the jump menu button underneath that tab. This is shown in the picture below:

How to get a Drop Down Menu

Once you click that you should get a screen that looks like the one below:

Pop up box for setting up the drop down box

In that picture the blue circle adds items to the drop menu. The red circle deletes items from the drop menu. The green circle you can click on and you can browse your computer for something you want to open when that item is clicked. In the space before you can put in a web page that will open when the item is clicked.

In the picture below is an image you can use to change the drop down menu after it is made.

How to change drop down menu settings

Click the list values button and then this screen should pop-up:

Pop up box for changing drop down menu settings

The plus and minus do the same the thing as in the second picture. The value (circled in red) is where it will go when the item is clicked on. The label (circled in green) is what the person clicking on it sees.
