Laptop
Purchase: Students who complete the application process
and are accepted into the Academy must purchase the school endorsed
Academy laptop. As technology is continuously changing, the specific
make and model will be determined late spring, at which time parents
will be contacted with product specifications and price. In the
interim, every effort will be made by the District to research and
identify the best laptop value for Academy students.
Support:
The District is committed to being the first line of support for
the Technology Academy laptop computers and will troubleshoot hardware
and software problems and facilitate repairs. A preferred provider
will provide additional support as needed.
Financing
Options: Families must purchase the laptop directly from
the selected preferred provider. Three-year low interest loans are
available for families that qualify through First Midwest Bank.
Opportunities exist for financially needy students to participate
in a summer work program on campus to earn a partial scholarship
towards the purchase of their laptop.
Insurance:
Insurance is a necessity. Families have secured laptop insurance
through their homeowner’s insurance (double check for extent
of coverage). Others have purchased very comprehensive laptop insurance
through a laptop insurance provider. Information is available through
the Superintendent’s Office.
