TechCrew is an intense computer oriented program that combines industry standard training and first hand experience with the current implementation of the districts fleet distributed hardware and software rollouts. The program is student run and recreates the live production environment of corporate leadership hierarchies - level 1, 2, and 3 IT support models. Techcrew students help with the installation, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of over 2,500 users, 11 industrial Novel, Microsoft and Linux servers, 60 network applications, 40 networked printers, 550 networked desktop workstations, and 200 networked laptops. Though the program is student led, it runs just like any other corporate IT department.
WebCrew is an extra curricular program utilizing student volunteers to design and maintain professional websites for local businesses, government and educational facilities. Like many schools Zion Benton itself has a website; a place where students, teachers and parents alike can find resources, school news, and discover the internet thorough a family oriented safe portal to current events. Prepares them for real world internet design via hands on training with leading edge industry acclaimed software's such as Macromedia's Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, and more. Members meet throughout the day and after school to work on the school site - updating sports schedules, school news, etc. Past projects include creating sites for Emmanuelson Inn and the city of Zion.

The Technology Academy was forged through special partnerships with Toshiba and Microsoft and is a 4-year school-within-a-school program. The Academy integrates the use of a laptop within each class the graduate will be in. The laptop is always available at any time when it is needed at school, and also helps encourage student and family opportunities at home. When used properly, students become very familiar with software applications that will provide useful, marketable skills in the technology field. The experience provided by working with the teachers provides students with a better understanding of how their subjects relate to real life. Unique opportunities will be provided to graduates of the Technology Academy such as job shadowing and training for computer technical support certification. All students in the academy are enrolled in particular classes available only to members of the Technology Academy, including studies of science, social science, foreign languages, and special technology application courses, all with special assignments integrating the use of the laptop. This combination of engaged learning maximizes the student's ability to exceed the Illinois State Learning Standards, empowering them for a future, implementing many of the technologies coming into higher demand within the society of today.
