Seniors, it’s time to start thinking about your senior banner. Submissions must contain the ZB Bee and a class slogan. Banners from previous years are on display outside the main office. Work together or alone and submit your ideas to Mrs. Carter in the office by February 24th.
Senior Scholarship Applications are now available but they are only available online. Go to http://connection.naviance.com/zionbenton. The scholarship application is located in the About Me tab, in the left column under Surveys. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, February 24. If you have questions, contact Ms. Schuda in Student Services.
Don’t miss the College Planning Night for juniors, sophomores, and freshmen families tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the ZB lecture hall. Get answers to questions like, “Which colleges should I apply to? How and when should I apply? How do I apply for a scholarship?”
The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling invites you to attend a college fair at CLC on Thursday, March 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. Come meet representatives from in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities. Ask important questions - get real answers.
The students of ZBTHS and NT High welcome you to their presentation of “Onward…Upward…Forward”. The program is Friday, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the south café. Presentations will focus on celebrating the heritage of our African-American community and its connection to the continent of Africa. The event will offer music, presentations, poetry and much more! The program is from 6 to 7:15 p.m. followed by a catered social from 7:15 – 8:00 p.m. There is no charge for the program or catered refreshments.

The following Spring Sports will be starting up on Monday, February 27th: They are badminton, baseball, girls’ soccer, softball, boys’ tennis, boys’ & girls’ track. The first day of tryouts for baseball on Feb. 27th will be at Pearce Campus. Freshman will be at 3:10 p.m. and Varsity and sophomores will be at 4:10 p.m. Boys’ volleyball will begin Monday, March 6th. You need to turn in the Student/Parent Permission form, IHSA Concussion & Drug Testing form, Emergency form, current physical and the $100 sports fee. Even if you have participated in a fall or winter sport and you plan to participate in a spring sport, you still need to sign up in the Athletic Office.
There will be a pre-season meeting today for anyone interested in going out for the girls badminton team. The meeting will take place in room 221 right after school and will last until 3:20 p.m. Please arrange for rides to pick you up at that time and if you are unable to attend, please see Mr. Bonnivier or Ms. Kolinek about try-out information and details.
Boys Volleyball season begins Monday, March 6th at 8AM in the ZB Field House. If you are interested, see Coach Isaacs for details.
The next soccer open gym is February 25th from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. in the field house.
There is a Stage Crew Meeting at 2:45 p.m. on Friday the 24th in the choir room. Make sure you have a ride home.
Attention all students: We want to inform students of some changes to our after school programs and expectations. After school detentions will now be scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning March 1st. There will be an activity bus at 3:25 every day, including Thursdays. If you are staying for 9th hour on Thursdays, you must remain in the media center until 2:24. Students who do not comply with this will be asked to leave the building and therefore miss 9th If you leave after school dismissal at 2:24 (or 1:21 on Thursdays) you may not come back in the building for clubs or activities or media center. If you have 9th hour on Thursday, Mr. Hughes will let you in the building through the front door only at 2:20 – but no earlier. Students are not to be in the building unsupervised any time after school hours. There will be school consequences for students who do not comply with these expectations.
