Announcements

    • Attention all seniors, the District 126 scholarship application is available now!  To access the application, go to connection.naviance.com/nthzbe.  The application is located in the About Me tab, in the left column under Surveys. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, February 26.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Goldman in the counseling office. 
    • The PBN Scholarship Application is now available on naviance and in the main office. Completed applications are due to the New Tech Main Office by 1 p.m. on Friday, March 18th.
    • There is a FAFSA Completion Night for seniors tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ZBTHS.
    • Juniors who took the PSAT should join Mr. Goldman in the training room at lunch tomorrow to receive their scores.
    • Join Educational Talent Search on Saturday, February 20th for the Historically Black College and University Expo from 11:00 - 3:00 p.m. at CLC's Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan.  A bus will be provided and will depart at 10:15 a.m. from the main entrance at Zion-Benton. The anticipated return time is 4:00 p.m. 
    • Zion Township Summer Work Program information is available in the main office. To qualify you must be a Zion resident and between the ages of 14 and 18. Applications are due by February 29th.
    • Seniors, please bring in any college acceptance letters to the main office so we can place your star on the College Stars board.
    • Sophomores, please make sure your school fees are paid so that your driver’s ed information can be sent to the state.
    • Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and so is the next Crafternoon. Mark your calendar to attend on Thursday, February 11th at 1:20 in the cafetorium.
    • We search for those who may be purveyors of the Force. We search for those wandering the galaxy for direction and meaning. We search for those who can take the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs. If you believe this to be you, do or do not for there is no try and come this Wednesday February 10 to Room 103 at lunch for the first meeting of the Star Wars club.
    • Interested in softball? Every Monday and Wednesday we have conditioning and lifting from 5:30-6:30pm and open gym, 6:30-7:45pm. Interested in trying out this spring? You are encouraged to attend if you are not in a winter sport. If you have any questions you can contact Coach Meyer.
    • Baseball open gym will be in the Fieldhouse on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. This open gym is for all levels who wish to participate. Any questions please contact Coach Bellows.
    • The next badminton open gym will be Monday, February 15th in the Zion-Benton East Gym from 5:15 to 7:30.
    • You can still order a New Tech yearbook. Order online at yearbookordercenter.com and enter school code 19578. Yearbooks are $55 each.
    • Girls’ Soccer open gyms will continue throughout February. If you need dates and times, and locations, please check the bulletin board outside the main office.
    • Boys’ Soccer open gym will be held on Fridays from 4:15 to 5:15 in the east gym.
    • Remember to keep those ID’s on, your coats and backpacks in your lockers and have a great New Tech day!
