    • NHS peer tutoring has begun! Do you need help on a project or assignment? If so, head to the media center after school Monday through Friday for some extra help! See Mrs. Biddle or an NHS member for more details.
    • Let’s start a chain reaction! In response to Rachel’s Challenge, NHS is starting a chain reaction of kindness! Simply fill out a slip in the media center when you’re a part of an act of kindness! We’ll build a paper chain, link by link, and be able to see how kind New Tech can be! See Mrs. Biddle or an NHS member for more details.
    • October 24th through November 4th Interact will be collecting non-perishable food items. Bring your cans to the cafetorium before school for your chance at extra credit! Also, the grade level with the most cans will win a prize!
    • Red Ribbon week is next week. Help us celebrate with spirit days:  Maroon Monday, Twin Tuesday, Wanna Be Wednesday, Heroes versus Villains Thursday, and Fancy Friday.
    • Senior Yearbook only photos will be Wednesday, October 25th. Underclassman retakes will be November 8th.
    • Winter cheerleading tryouts are October 24th, 25th, and 26th from 6-8pm at Pearce Campus. See Ms. Keenan for more information.
    • There will be a wrestling informational meeting for anyone who is interested in wrestling this year in the mat room after school on Tuesday, October 25 for about 15 minutes. It is very important that you are there to get sheets needed to participate as well as warm up order sheet for the season. Hope to see you there. If you are unable to make it, please see Mr. Villalobos to get information.
    • There will be a try-out for anyone who would like to be a part of the Sparkettes/dance team competition season on Monday, October 24 through Wednesday, October 26th. The try-outs will be held at the dance studio at Pearce campus from 3-5 p.m. daily. Those who wish to try-out MUST obtain a permit to practice in the athletic office prior to try-outs. To get your permit to practice you will need to turn in the following items; $100 athletic fee, a current physical, the permission form, the emergency form, and the IHSA drug test consent and concussion form. All forms are available in the athletic office now or on line. Please see Ms. Cohen or go to the athletic office if you have any questions.
    • Freshman/sophomore open gym is being held October 26th from 3:00 to 4:30 in the Main Gym. Open gyms are for all girls interested in playing basketball. Tryouts begin October 31.
    • Boys Basketball open gyms will be Mon and Thurs @ 6-8 pm in the main gym. If you are currently in a fall sport, you cannot attend.
    • Yearbooks can still be ordered. See Ms. Jackson in the bookstore.
    • Students taking the ACT on Saturday, October 22, 2016 are reminded to have a photo ID with a name that matches the admission ticket exactly. No food or drink or cell phones or radio players are allowed in the testing room.  Desktops must be cleared of everything except admission tickets, pencils, test booklets, and answer documents.  Check your Calculator.  Be sure your calculator is permitted for use during the Math section.  Temperature in the testing rooms can vary so wear comfortable clothing that can be adjusted. MAKE SURE YOU TEST COUNTS – (don’t cheat).  You will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored.  For example, if you:  Give or receive assistance during the test, fill in or alter ovals after time has been called on each test or continuing writing the essay after time has been called on that test, filling in or altering ovals on a previous test or a later test section or filling in or altering ovals with the test booklet closed.  Students should park in the parking lot on the south side of ZBTHS.  Use the bookstore entrance which will open at 7:30 a.m.  Testing will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 12:30. The ACT PLUS Writing will conclude about 1:00 p.m.
    • Remember to keep those ID’s on, your coats and backpacks in your lockers and have a great New Tech day!
