The Zion-Benton NJROTC Rifle Team is the number one Navy Junior ROTC marksmanship team in the nation. The Rifle Team competes in the sporter air rifle category and has junior varsity ad varsity teams. This year the Zee-Bee "Top Guns" made history by winning the Secretary of the Navy Rifle competition in Fort Benning, Georgia against the best Navy JROTC teams in the United States. They also represented the Navy in the all-service competition against the top rifle teams from all Junior ROTC teams in the country. Their third place finish was the highest by a Navy JROTC team ever. The Rifle team is made up of two teams, Varsity and Junior Varsity. These two teams participate in traveling match competitions hosted either at Pierce Campus or other schools, as well as Postal matches. In traveling matches the hosting school's team grades the targets, however in a Postal match targets are instead mailed to the host to get scored. The school in the competition with the highest scores wins the match. When at competitions the Rifle Team competes in two different leagues.
