Superintendent’s Welcome The 2007-08 school year promises to be filled with new opportunities for ZBTHS’ students and families. Our administrative team has been very busy working to put some initiatives in place that will focus on our ultimate goal, which is helping every student master the skills required for our global society. Dr. Gail Worrell, Curriculum Director, partnered with Dan Sullivan, Data Analyst, along with the principals, department chairs, and staff will implement the Pearson Benchmark assessment software. The Benchmark tests will be a way each teacher can have a periodic review of student progress that is standardized by grade level and tied to the Illinois Learning and College Readiness Standards. These assessments will increase the staff’s knowledge about your students’ strengths and weaknesses and help staff in better ways to assist your students. We will send periodic updates so that you will stay informed about our progress with this new tool. We have hired approximately 30 new staff to replace retirements. We look forward to your meeting them at our Open House this fall. My goal as superintendent is to learn about this wonderful new school community, to work for continuous improvement in achievements, and to maintain the welcoming and safe environment. Deborah T.
