list of colleges to research.

- Take ACT and PSAE
- These tests are
very important!! Do your best!!!
- Continue to research
and edit your list of colleges
- Use Spring Break
to visit colleges on your own
May and June
- Take the SAT I
or SAT II subject tests, if you need these tests for your intended college.
Very selecting colleges may require the SAT II subject tests.
Summer
- College visits
- see as many colleges as you plan to apply to!! Visit!! Visit!! Visit!!
- Enroll in a college
course on the campus you most want to attend.
- Have a summer job.
- Continue to volunteer
for community service.
- Update your resume
with summer activities.
Remember! Fall
semester of your senior year you will apply to Colleges. Plan to see your
Counselor often!!

Senior
Year Timeline
All year...
- First semester
- apply and get admitted to college. Second semester - work on getting
scholarships and financial aid.
- Study for your

- See your counselor
often during senior year!
August
- Review the college
application process from start to finish
- Develop your final
list of colleges
- Request applications
and apply to a minimum of three colleges. One of these colleges should
be CLC. CLC is an excellent "safety" school.
- Be careful of deadlines.
- Evaluate the need
for teacher recommendations and make requests. Remember to give teachers
two to three weeks to write these letters for you.
Register for
fall testing: SAT I, SAT II, ACT, if you need to take these tests.
September-December
- Attend "Rep-A-Rama"
often. These are great opportunities to have one on one conversations
with admissions staff from colleges here at the ZBTHS Student Services
Center!
- Attend CLC College
Fair and ZBTHS College Admissions Seminar.
- Continue the college
application process.
- Follow up with
teachers on recommendations that you have requested.
- Plan overnight
visits to colleges on your final list.
- Keep your resume
updated.
- As you complete
your college applications in September and October, begin to search
for scholarships. Read the daily bulletin and ZBTHS.org web site to
learn about specific scholarships available.
- Deadline for early
decision and some scholarships will be as early as November.
- Each completed
application must be turned in to the counseling office at least two
weeks before the deadline!
January-February
- Finish your college
applications, if you have not already done so.
- Continue to study
hard and earn good grades.
- Colleges will request
an update on your 7th semester grades.
- Attend the Financial
Aid Workshop or ZBTHS.
- Check the daily
bulletin and ZBTHS.org web site for scholarship information.
- Complete and turn
in applications for local scholarships.
- Fill out the FAFSA
form as soon as possible after January 1st!
March-April
- College response
letters will arrive.
- The college financial
aid office is the best source for the most money to help with college
expenses.
- Keep up the hard
work and maintain your grades!
May
- National Student
Reply Day is May 1st.
- You must notify
the college of your choice that you are coming and inform the others
that you are not. Continue to work with the financial aid office of
the college of your choice.
- Prepare well for
your final exams and Advance Placement exams.
